I'm exceptionally good at hiding any signs of stress. Having said… - A Levels, AS Levels and GCSEs are the work of the Devil!

I'm exceptionally good at hiding any signs of stress.

Having said that, my name is Ian and I'm admittedly panicking like hell over my exams this June. I'm a second year student doing AS Levels, having started afresh at college after a hellish year at sixth form. This June I'm sitting Religious Studies, Philosophy and English Literature and though I'm predicted A A B/C, I'm very, very worried that I'm going to fail everything and be forced to work in W.H. Smiths my entire life. Being screwed by the marking board on my R.S. module in January didn't help that particular complex.

So. Yes. There's only so far I can drown my worries in alcohol and I'm reaching that limit right now. Oh well. Wish me luck.

alcohol is fantastic but i always want more than i should have. i don't get drunk easily which just adds to the incentive. plus, college is right in the middle of town so my friends and i are in and out of bars every time we have a free.

i suppose if the student thing doesn't work out, i can become a drunk. i don't think anyone would really notice a difference.

That's crappy. I hate examining boards.

Ooh, I did The Handmaid's Tale and the Glass Menagerie in my abortive first year. I wasn't actually a fan of Atwood, but Tennessee Williams is one of my favourite playwrights ever. Our texts this year are:

The Bell - Iris Murdoch
Dr. Faustus - Christopher Marlowe
The Whitsun Weddings - Philip Larkin
Antony & Cleopatra - Shakespeare

Even though I've grown to hate the class, I like some of the stuff we've read. I've always loved Marlowe and Larkin. Next year, the texts are better - Catcher in the Rye, Blake's Songs of Innocence/Songs of Experience, Othello and The Bell Jar. It's a Manics fan's dream come true.

Well, Blake is awesome... He's my favourite poet of all time. Streetcar is overrated, I think... my favourites by Tennessee Williams are Suddenly Last Summer and The Glass Menagerie. Frankenstein I'm not a big fan of and right now I'm sick of all Shakespeare that isn't Hamlet. Marlowe rocks so much more.

It is! I always wanted to name my band The Juliet Letters after the EC album, but as I'm still in my room perfecting my Paul Westerberg impersonation I decided to name my livejournal after it until such time that I become a strident rock god ready to take over the world. Or something.

I'll check out the EC community. I love The Juliet Letters very much, though it's not my favourite Elvis album, which would be My Aim is True. I think. It changes from day to day. Right now I'm using the logic that any album so creatively fruitful that a song like Radio Sweetheart didn't make the cut cannot possibly be anything less than fabulous.

Have fun at the gig! I'm totally jealous. I wish Elvis & Steve were playing up norf, but alas.

Did you do biology coursework which was something like "effect of hydrogen peroxide concentration on its rate of its breakdown by peroxidase" ?

I have no results, the deadline is tomorrow *dies*
